Readers of my question should note that I use the qualifier of “some” in my question, so it should be abundantly clear that I don’t mean all “progressives” (as they often refer to themselves)

The saga of Christopher Dorner has reached a fiery conclusion, with the charred out remains inside the burnt-out California cabin apparently having been identified as belonging to ex-cop (and cop-killer) Christopher Dorner. What is profoundly disturbing about this, in my judgment, is how some prominent people who like to consider themselves enlightened have lionized a murderer, and I have to wonder exactly what it is that drives them into this morally repulsive position. In a piece today at Front Page Magazine, Matthew Vadum provides names of some who have obscenely made Mr. Dorner a folk hero:
